7월 10일, 앵커리지 한인회관에서 특별 한 만남이 열렸다. 한국의 대표적인 일 간지인 서울신문의 베테랑 기자 김정래 기자가 앵커리지를 방문해 한인회 임원 들과 함께 알래스카 LNG(액화천연가스) 프로젝트에 대해 논의하고, 향후 한-알 래스카 간의 에너지 협력 가능성을 모색 하는 시간을 가졌다.

에너지 취재를 위해 알래스카를 방문한 김 기자는 이날 앵커리지 한인회 임원 들과 만나 지역 한인 사회가 알래스카 LNG 프로젝트를 어떻게 바라보고 있는 지에 대한 의견을 듣고, 한국의 에너지 투자 및 협력 가능성을 타진했다.

회의에서는 알래스카 LNG 프로젝트가 주 및 지역 경제 발전에 있어 중요한 역 할을 할 뿐만 아니라, 에너지 자원이 부 족한 한국에게 전략적 파트너십으로 발 전할 수 있는 가능성에 대해 심도 있는 논의가 이뤄졌다. 임원들은 알래스카의 풍부한 천연가스 매장량과 오랜 기간 이 어져 온 한-알래스카 간의 우호적인 관 계에 대해 언급하며, 해당 프로젝트가 양국 모두에 긍정적인 기회를 제공할 수 있음을 강조했다.

김 기자는 한인회의 따뜻한 환영과 깊이 있는 의견에 감사의 뜻을 전하며, 이번 취재 내용을 바탕으로 한국 정책 입안자 들과 투자자들에게 국제 에너지 협력의 중요성을 알리는 연재 기사를 게재할 예 정이라고 밝혔다.

알래스카 LNG 프로젝트는 주 역사상 가 장 대규모의 인프라 및 에너지 개발 사 업 중 하나로, 이날 회의는 이 프로젝트 에 대한 국제적인 관심이 점차 커지고 있음을 보여주는 사례이기도 했다.

회의가 끝난 후, 한인회 임원 김영 씨는 김 기자와 함께 앵커리지 박물관을 방문 해 파이프라인 전시관을 안내하며 알래 스카 에너지 산업의 역사를 소개했다.

On July 10th, a special meeting was held at the Korean American Community Center of Anchorage, where community leaders welcomed Kim Jung Rae, a veteran reporter from the Seoul Shinmun Daily in South Korea. The meeting focused on the ongoing Alaska LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) project and its potential for future collaboration between Alaska and South Korea.

Mr. Kim, who was in Alaska covering Alaska energy met with members of the board of the Korean American Community of Anchorage to gain insight into how the local Korean community views the project, and to explore opportunities for increased South Korean interest and investment in Alaska’s energy sector.

During the meeting, participants discussed the significance of the Alaska LNG project not only for the state’s economic development but also as a potential strategic partnership for South Korea, a nation with limited domestic energy resources. Board members shared perspectives on Alaska’s rich natural gas reserves and the long-standing friendly relations between South Korea and Alaska.

Mr. Kim expressed appreciation for the insights and hospitality of the Anchorage Korean community, noting that his findings will contribute to a series of articles aimed at informing South Korean policymakers and investors about international energy opportunities.

The Alaska LNG project remains one of the most ambitious infrastructure and energy initiatives in the state’s history, and meetings like this reflect growing international interest in its development.

After the board meeting concluded, board member Young Kim took Mr. Kim to the Anchorage Museum to see the pipeline exhibit.
