앵커리지 – 알래스카 한인 노인회는 지 난 1월 16일(금) 앵커리지 한인회관에서 정기 총회와 함께 최규재 신임 회장 취 임식을 개최하고, 새로운 리더십의 출범 을 공식적으로 알렸다.

이날 행사는 최규재 회장이 직접 주재하 며 회장으로서의 첫 공식 일정으로 진행 됐다. 아직 신임 이사진 구성이 모두 완 료되지는 않았지만, 총회는 지난해 협 회 재정 운영 보고를 시작으로 최 회장 의 취임사로 이어졌다. 최 회장은 연설 을 통해 세대 간 인성과 책임의 중요성 을 강조하며, “아랫세대에 대한 올바른 교육이 필요하고, 윗세대는 교육자로서 바른 자세를 가져야 한다”고 말해 참 석자들의 깊은 공감을 얻었다.

본 행사에 앞서 참석자들은 국민체조를 함께하며 몸을 풀고 화기애애한 분위기 속에서 하루를 시작했다. 이어 전임 회 장 직무대행이었던 이광연 씨가 재정 보 고를 맡아 협회의 투명한 운영 현황을 상세히 설명했다.

특별 순서로는 성은장로교회 한태근 목 사가 강사로 나서, 길을 잃었을 때의 대 처 방법과 통·번역이 필요할 경우 스 마트폰을 효과적으로 활용하는 방법에 대해 실생활에 바로 도움이 되는 강의 를 진행했다. 한 목사의 실용적인 안내 는 참석자들로부터 큰 호응을 얻었으며, 이후 식사 기도를 인도한 뒤 정성스럽게 준비된 점심 식사를 나누며 교제의 시간 을 가졌다.

빙판길로 인해 학교가 휴교할 정도의 혹 독한 겨울 날씨 속에서도 많은 시니어 회원들이 참석해 서로 안부를 나누고 격 려를 전하며 알래스카의 긴 겨울을 함께 이겨내는 공동체의 결속력을 보여주었 다. 참석자들은 곧 개강할 노인대학 프 로그램에서 다시 만나기를 기대하며 행 사를 마무리했다.

이번 행사는 악천후 속에서도 흔들림 없 이 이어지는 알래스카 한인 노인회의 단 합과 열정, 그리고 공동체 정신을 다시 한번 확인하는 뜻깊은 자리로, 지역 한 인 사회에 깊은 인상을 남겼다. 기자: 조유진

Anchorage — The Alaska Korean Senior Association gathered at the Anchorage Korean Community Center on Friday, January 16, to officially welcome its newly elected president, Choi Kyu-jae, during an inauguration ceremony held alongside the association’s regular general assembly.

The meeting was led by President Choi, marking his first official appearance in the role. Although the association’s new board of directors has not yet been fully organized, the assembly moved forward with a review of last year’s financial activities, followed by President Choi’s inaugural remarks. In his address, he highlighted the importance of character and responsibility across generations, emphasizing that education begins with proper guidance for younger members and sincere leadership from elders. His thoughtful message drew strong agreement from those in attendance.

Before the formal proceedings began, members participated in the Korean National Exercise (Gungminchejo), helping set a warm and energetic tone for the day. The financial report was then presented by Lee Gwang-yeon, the former acting president, who outlined the association’s finances and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency. A special segment of the program featured Pastor Han Tae-geun of Seongheun Presbyterian Church, who delivered a practical and engaging talk on what to do when lost and how to effectively use smartphones for interpretation and translation assistance. His guidance was well received for its immediate, real-life usefulness. Pastor Han later offered the meal prayer, after which attendees shared a carefully prepared lunch and enjoyed time reconnecting with one another.

Despite challenging winter conditions, including icy roads that led to school closures, many senior members made the effort to attend. Their presence reflected a strong sense of community, as participants exchanged greetings and words of encouragement while navigating Alaska’s long winter season together. The gathering concluded with shared hopes of reuniting soon for the opening of the Senior College program.

The event served as a powerful reminder of the resilience, unity, and passion that define the Alaska Korean Senior Association, leaving a meaningful impression on the local Korean community despite the harsh weather.
