알래스카를 대표하는 한인 피겨스케이 팅 선수들이 9월 30일부터 10월 4일까 지 텍사스 플라노에서 열린 ‘텍사스 트 로피(Texas Trophy)’ 대회에서 인상적 인 활약을 펼쳤다. 이 대회는 미국 전역 의 우수한 선수들이 참가하는 전국 규모 의 대회로, 차세대 피겨 유망주들의 실 력을 확인할 수 있는 중요한 무대다.

아멜리아 주, 금메달 2관왕 쾌거

알래스카 피겨스케이팅 협회(Alaska Association of Figure Skaters) 소속 아멜 리아 주(Amelia Tzou) 선수는 이번 대회 에서 놀라운 기량을 선보이며 금메달 2 관왕에 올랐다.

그녀는 Preliminary Girls Group A 프리 스케이트 결승과 Pre-Pre-Preliminary Lyrical Pop 부문에서 모두 1위를 차지, 우아함과 기술력, 음악적 표현력을 두루 보여주었다. 이번 성과는 올 시즌 알래 스카 선수 중 가장 뛰어난 성적 중 하나 로 꼽힌다.

손주니아, 꾸준한 성장으로 시즌 마무리

Intermediate Women’s Group C 부문 에 출전한 손주니아(Junia Son) 선수는 수준 높은 경쟁 속에서 7위를 기록하며 시즌을 성공적으로 마무리했다. 심사위 원들은 이번 부문을 “가장 경쟁이 치열 한 그룹 중 하나”라고 평가했으며, 손 선수의 꾸준한 연습과 헌신은 향후 시즌 을 위한 밝은 전망을 보여주었다.

손루카스, 내달 라스베이거스 ‘섹셔 널’ 진출

같은 협회를 대표한 손루카스(Lucas Son) 선수는 전국 예선 시리즈(National Qualifying Series, NQS)에 참가해 Juvenile Boys 부문 3위를 차지했다. 또한 지 역대회(Regionals)에서 4위를 기록하며 섹셔널(Sectionals) 출전 자격을 공식적 으로 획득했다. 손루카스 선수는 다음 달 라스베이거스에서 열리는 섹셔널 대 회에 초청받아, 전국대회(Nationals) 진출 을 놓고 경쟁할 예정이다.

알래스카 피겨스케이팅의 새로운 도약 아멜리아, 주니아, 루카스 세 선수의 뛰 어난 성과는 알래스카 피겨스케이팅의 위상이 점점 높아지고 있음을 보여준다.

Korean-American figure skaters representing Alaska made a strong impression at the Texas Trophy, held in Plano, Texas, from September 30 to October 4, 2025. The annual competition brought together some of the most talented skaters from across the United States, offering a glimpse into the next generation of rising stars in American figure skating.

Amelia Tzou Wins Double Gold

Amelia Tzou, representing the Alaska Association of Figure Skaters, delivered an outstanding performance, earning two gold medals. She placed 1st in both the Free Skate Final for Preliminary Girls Group A and Pre-PrePreliminary Lyrical Pop, demonstrating poise, technical skill, and musical artistry. Her win marks one of the strongest showings by an Alaskan skater at the event this season.

Junia Son Finishes Season Strong

In the Intermediate Women’s Group C, Junia Son wrapped up her season with a 7th-place finish in what judges described as one of the most competitive fields at the regional level. Her consistent performances and commitment throughout the season have set a promising path for future competitions.

Lucas Son Advances to Sectionals

Lucas Son, also representing the Alaska Association of Figure Skaters, competed in the National Qualifying Series (NQS), earning 3rd place in Juvenile Boys at the Texas Trophy. With his 4th-place finish at Regionals, Lucas has officially qualified for Sectionals, where he is invited to compete next month in Las Vegas for a chance to advance to Nationals.

Building Alaska’s Figure Skating Legacy

The strong results from Amelia, Junia, and Lucas highlight the growing prominence of Alaskan skaters on the national stage. Supported by dedicated coaches and families through the Alaska Association of Figure Skaters, these athletes continue to prove that talent and hard work from the North can shine brightly anywhere in the country.
