앵커리지, 알래스카 (2025년 12월 22 일) – 앵커리지 공공교통국(Public Transportation Department, PTD)의 라이 드셰어(RideShare) 프로그램이 밴풀 운 영 30주년을 맞아, 오늘날 변화하는 통 근 환경에 대응하기 위한 혁신적인 신 규 서비스를 선보였다. PTD는 Commute with Enterprise와의 협력을 통해 알래스 카 최초이자, 미국 내 세 번째로 ‘유연 형 밴풀(Flexible Vanpooling)’ 서비스를 도입했다고 밝혔다.

유연형 밴풀 모델은 이용자들이 요일을 번갈아 이용하거나, 주중 일부만 이용하 는 일정 조정, 그리고 동일한 노선이지 만 근무 시간이 다른 이용자들과 좌석을 공유할 수 있도록 설계됐다. 이 시스템 은 다음과 같은 근로자들을 지원한다:

매일 출근하지 않는 하이브리드 근무자

근무 시간이 불규칙하거나 교대 근무를 하는 시프트 근무자

가족 일정이나 생활 패턴이 자주 바뀌 는 유동적인 통근자

바트 루돌프(Bart Rudolph) 앵커리지 공 공교통국 국장은 “밴풀은 그동안 정기 출퇴근자들에게 매우 효과적인 교통수 단이었지만, 이번 유연형 모델은 큰 도 약”이라며 “비전통적인 근무 일정에 도 밴풀을 이용할 수 있게 해주고, 매트 수 밸리(Mat-Su Valley), 이글리버(Eagle River), 기어드우드(Girdwood) 등 지역까 지 서비스 범위를 확대하는 데 도움이 된다”고 말했다.

유연형 밴풀 도입과 함께, PTD는 올해 초 100번째 활성 밴풀 운영 달성이라는 또 다른 이정표도 세웠다. 앵커리지 라 이드셰어 프로그램은 현재 미국 내 지 역 밴풀 운영 규모 기준 27위를 기록하 고 있다. 이 프로그램을 통해 평일 기준 약 500대의 차량이 도로에서 줄어들고, 연간 480만 파운드 이상의 이산화탄소 (CO₂) 배출 감소 효과를 거두고 있으 며, 이는 약 3만6천 그루의 나무를 심는 효과와 맞먹는다.

참여자들에게는 쉐보레 타호(Chevy Tahoe), 포드 익스페디션(Ford Expedition) 등 신형 차량이 제공되며, 차량 의 소유 및 유지 관리는 Commute with Enterprise가 맡는다. 각 밴풀의 운전자 는 출퇴근 외 개인 용도로도 차량을 사 용할 수 있어, 리더 역할을 맡는 참여자 에게는 큰 혜택으로 작용한다.

월 이용 비용은 탑승자 간에 분담되며, 연료비, 보험, 정비, 24시간 긴급 출동 서비스가 모두 포함된다.

Anchorage becomes the third region in the U.S. to offer flexible vanpooling for today’s workforce

ANCHORAGE, AK – Anchorage’s Public Transportation Department’s (PTD) RideShare program is celebrating 30 years of vanpooling by launching an innovative new option to meet the changing needs of today’s commuters. In partnership with Commute with Enterprise, the PTD’s RideShare program now offers flexible vanpooling, a first-of-its-kind option in Alaska.

The flexible vanpool model allows participants to rotate days, coordinate partial-week schedules, and share seats with others who have similar routes but different work shifts. This new design supports

Hybrid workers who don’t commute every day, Shift workers with irregular or non-standard hour,s Commuters with changing routines or family schedules

“Vanpooling has always been a strong option for daily commuters, but this new flexible model is a major step forward,” said Bart Rudolph, Director of the Public Transportation Department. “It makes vanpooling accessible to people with nontraditional schedules and helps us reach areas like the Mat-Su Valley, Eagle River, and Girdwood.” Alongside the launch of flexible vanpooling, the department also marked its 100th active vanpool earlier this year, a milestone in its partnership with Commute with Enterprise. The Anchorage RideShare program ranks 27th in the nation for the number of regional vanpools. The program removes an estimated 500 cars from the road each weekday and reduces over 4.8 million pounds of CO2 emissions annually, equal to planting 36,000 trees.

Participants are provided with brand-new vehicles, including models such as the Chevy Tahoe and Ford Expedition. Commute with Enterprise owns and maintains the vehicles. The Driver of each vanpool gets to keep the vehicle for personal use outside of commuting, making it a valuable perk for those who take the lead.

Monthly costs are shared among riders and cover fuel, insurance, maintenance, and 24-hour roadside assistance.

“Vanpooling gives commuters time back in their day and helps them save on transportation costs,” said Sirus Karimi, Vice President of Commute with Enterprise. “We work closely with our partner employers and public transit agencies to offer convenient vanpool programs that support more sustainable commuting, help fill transit service gaps, and reduce congestion while helping employers offer a competitive benefit that can attract and retain talent.”
