알래스카 앵커리지 인근에 위치한 나 이키 사이트 서밋(Nike Site Summit)은 1959년부터 1979년까지 냉전시대 미국 의 1차 방어선으로 운영되었던 군사 거 점입니다. 이 역사적인 장소를 보존하 기 위해 2007년 ‘나이키 사이트 서밋 친 구들(Friends of Nike Site Summit, 이하 FONSS)’이 창립되었으며, 엘멘도르프- 리처드슨 합동기지(JBER)와의 협약 하 에 6개의 건축물을 안정화하고 보존하 는 작업을 진행해 왔습니다.

협약 이행 후, FONSS는 2024년에 미국 국세청(IRS)으로부터 비영리 단체로서의 501(c)(3) 지위를 획득하였으며, 현재까 지도 보존된 사이트의 유지관리와 함께 냉전 시대에 대한 교육 활동을 이어가고 있습니다. 활동에는 일반인을 위한 해설 투어, 해설 자료 제작, 지역 사회와의 소 통 등이 포함됩니다.

이에 따라 FONSS는 오는 행사에서 자 원봉사자, 이사회 구성원, 나이키 사이트 서밋에서 복무한 참전 용사들과 함께 저 녁 만찬 및 특별 저녁 버스 투어를 개최 합니다. 이번 만찬에는 박중석 주앵커리 지 대한민국 총영사가 특별 연사로 참여 해 한국이 냉전기를 지나 오늘에 이르기 까지의 여정을 회고할 예정입니다.

저녁 만찬은 알래스카 아틱 밸리(Arctic Valley)의 알펜글로우 롯지(Alpenglow Lodge)에서 열리며, 이후 날씨와 현장 여건에 따라 40인승 버스를 통해 사이 트 서밋의 하단 및 상단 지역을 탐방하 게 됩니다. 특히, 오랜 계획 끝에 전시된 훈련용 나이키 허큘리스 미사일이 발사 벙커 내에 전시되어 있어 많은 이들의 기대를 모으고 있습니다. 이번 투어는 복원 작업에 참여했던 FONSS 자원봉사 자와 나이키 사이트 서밋 참전 용사들이 안내할 예정입니다.

행사 정보

저녁 만찬: 오후 5시 30분 ~ 6시 45분 버스 투어: 오후 7시 ~ 9시 30분 참가비: 1인당 $175 (저녁+투어 포함) / $95 (저녁만 참여 시)

세금 공제 가능 금액: IRS 규정에 따라 투어 포함 예약 시 $53, 저녁만 예약 시 $28이 세금 공제 대상입니다.

수익금은 사이트 서밋의 보존 및 교육 활동에 사용됩니다. 온라인 등록은 반드 시 신용카드 결제가 필요하며, 수표를 우편으로 보내고자 하는 분은 FONSS 이메일(site.summit.tours@gmail.com) 또 는 전화(907-717-0117, 메시지 남기 기)를 통해 개별 안내를 받으시기 바랍 니다.

버스 투어는 12세 이상 참가자에 한해 총 40명으로 제한되며, 정원이 차면 등 록이 마감됩니다. 유아용 캐리어나 반려 견은 투어에 동반할 수 없습니다. 단, 저 녁 만찬은 모든 연령층이 참여 가능합 니다.

Nike Site Summit was an active part of America’s first line of military defense from 1959 to 1979, during the Cold War era. Friends of Nike Site Summit (FONSS) was formed in 2007 and worked under an agreement with Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) to stabilize and preserve six structures within this historic area. Since fulfilling the terms of that agreement, FONSS obtained its 501(c)(3) status in 2024 and continues its mission with maintenance at the preserved site and education about the Cold War through public tours, interpretive materials, and other outreach efforts.

Please join FONSS volunteers, board members,, and Site Summit veterans for dinner and a special evening bus tour of the Nike Site Summit as we celebrate our future. The dinner will feature Joongsuk Park, Consul of the Republic of Korea, who will offer reflections on South Korea’s journey during the Cold War years, from the war until today.

After dinner at the Alpenglow Lodge in Arctic Valley, tour participants will be transported in a 40-passenger bus from there to the Lower and Upper areas of Site Summit (weather and conditions permitting). And, for guests who haven’t yet had the chance to see it, there’s a long-in-the-planning trainer Nike Hercules missile on display in the Launch Bunker! This memorable evening tour will be hosted by FONSS volunteers who have worked on the stabilization and veterans who served at the Nike Site Summit.

$53 of each dinner/tour reservation and $28 of each dinner-only reservation is tax-deductible per IRS regulations. Proceeds will be used to help FONSS preservation and education efforts at Site Summit.

Total tour registration is limited to 40 participants age 12 and older and will close once that limit has been reached.

Please note that no babies in carriers or dogs are permitted on the tour. Dinner registration is available to all ages.
