앵커리지 한인 노인회 회원들이 최근 페 어뱅크스로 떠난 따뜻하고 활기찬 여행 을 마치고 돌아왔습니다. 이번 여행은 알래스카 내 한인 시니어들이 강하고 든 든한 공동체를 이루기 위한 시니어회의 지속적인 노력 속에서 또 하나의 성공적 인 장을 열었습니다.

앵커리지에 거주하는 많은 한인 노인들 에게는 주변에 한국인이 거의 없는 주거 지 환경 등으로 인해 동포들과 교류할 기회를 찾는 것이 쉽지 않은 경우가 많 습니다. 한인 시니어회는 오랜 기간 동 안 이러한 어려움을 해소하고자, 시니어 들에게 소속감과 문화적 연결, 그리고 따뜻한 우정을 제공하는 중요한 다리 역 할을 해왔습니다.

이번 특별한 2박 3일 여행은 4월 24일 앵커리지를 출발해 4월 26일에 귀환하 는 일정으로 진행되었습니다. 참가자들 은 뉴월드 트래블 앤 투어(New World Travel and Tours)에서 제공한 전세버스 를 이용해 편안하고 즐거운 여행을 즐 겼습니다.

여행의 하이라이트는 세계적으로 유명 한 치나 온천(Chena Hot Springs) 방문 이었습니다. 참가자들은 알래스카의 아 름다운 대자연 속에서 따뜻하고 치유 의 힘이 있는 온천수에 몸을 담그며 피 로를 풀고 재충전의 시간을 가졌습니다. 또한, 북극권 노스폴(North Pole)에 위 치한 ‘산타클로스 하우스(Santa Claus House)’도 방문하여, 일 년 내내 크리 스마스 분위기가 가득한 공간을 둘러보 고 기념품을 구매하며 즐거운 시간을 보 냈습니다.

여행 내내 버스 안과 모든 일정 곳곳에 서는 웃음과 대화가 끊이지 않았습니다. 이번 여행은 단순히 새로운 장소를 방 문하는 것을 넘어, 오랜 친구들과 새롭 게 만난 이들과 함께 시간을 보내며 마 음과 정신을 재충전하는 특별한 기회가 되었습니다.

한인 노인회는 앞으로도 시니어들이 활 발하게 활동하고 사회적, 문화적으로 연 결될 수 있도록 다양한 기회를 마련하 는 데 중요한 역할을 지속해 나갈 것입 니다. 이번 페어뱅크스 여행처럼, 공동 체를 이루고 소중한 추억을 나누는 즐거 움을 일깨워주는 행사는 앞으로도 계속 될 예정입니다.

Members of the Korean Senior Association of Anchorage recently returned from a heartwarming and refreshing trip to Fairbanks, marking another successful chapter in their ongoing efforts to build a strong and supportive community among Korean seniors in Alaska.

For many Korean seniors living in Anchorage, finding opportunities to connect with fellow Koreans can be a challenge, especially for those who reside in housing areas where few, if any, other Korean residents live nearby. The Korean Senior Association has long served as a vital bridge, offering seniors a sense of belonging, cultural connection, and friendship.

The group departed Anchorage on April 24th and returned home on April 26th after enjoying a special three-day, two-night journey. Participants traveled in comfort thanks to a chartered bus provided by New World Travel and Tours.

The highlight of the trip included a rejuvenating visit to the famous Chena Hot Springs, where seniors relaxed and refreshed in the warm, healing waters surrounded by Alaska’s beautiful natural scenery. The group also visited the iconic Santa Claus House in North Pole, Alaska, a beloved destination where the spirit of Christmas is alive year-round. The seniors had a wonderful time exploring the festive store, taking photos, and bringing home souvenirs to remember the trip.

Throughout the journey, laughter and conversation filled the bus and every stop, underscoring the importance of these moments of connection. For many participants, the trip was not only a chance to see new sights but also to refresh their minds and spirits by spending time with old and new friends.

The Korean Senior Association continues to play an important role in ensuring that seniors have opportunities to stay active, socially connected, and culturally engaged. Trips like this one to Fairbanks are a reminder of the joy that comes from building community and sharing experiences together. The Association looks forward to organizing more events that create lasting memories and foster even stronger bonds among Korean seniors in Anchorage.
