Korean musicians Husse and Machel made a much-anticipated return to Anchorage this past week, joining fellow artists Zane Penny and Cariño for a series of live performances that reignited excitement in the local music scene.

Having recently relocated to Los Angeles to pursue their musical careers, Husse and Machel are among the first Korean artists from Alaska pushing beyond state lines to seek broader opportunities in the entertainment industry. Their return marks a significant moment, not just for fans, but for the representation of Korean talent in Alaska’s evolving cultural landscape.

Their first stop was Williwaw Social on Thursday, April 17th, where they delivered an energetic and memorable performance. Husse captivated the audience with soulful vocals and skillful guitar playing, while Machel—also known as DJ Machell—kept the crowd moving with his dynamic and electrifying DJ set.

Each artist brings a unique sound—Zane Penny with his soulful guitar and vocal work, Carino with catchy guitar tunes, Husse’s alternative artistry, and Machel’s precision in audio engineering and catchy mash-ups of popular songs. Yet, it’s their friendship and mutual support that elevate each performance, demonstrating the power of musicians uplifting one another. The duo is continuing their Anchorage tour with another performance at Van’s Dive Bar on April 19th, followed by a final show presented by Sound and Dance on Friday, April 26th at 7:30 p.m. This show will take place at 221 E 5th Avenue for an all-ages show with tickets available at the door for $15.
