이글 리버, 알래스카 – 2025년 9월 20 일 – 알래스카 파워리프팅 커뮤니티 가 지난 주말 이글 리버의 오드 맨 러 시 브루어리(Odd Man Rush Brewery)에 서 열린 2025 USPA 맥스 파워 페스트 (Mac’s Power Fest)를 통해 새로운 역 사를 썼다. 이번 대회에서는 지역 비즈 니스들의 후원 덕분에 사상 처음으로 우 승자들에게 상금이 수여되었으며, 그중 에는 알래스카에서 힘겨루기 스포츠를 응원하고 나선 한인 업주들의 참여도 있 었다.

알래스카 리프터들을 위한 역사적인 대회

이번 대회에는 알래스카 전역에서 선수 들이 모여 여성부, 남성부, 약물검사 부 문, 오픈 부문 등 총 4개 부문에서 경쟁 을 펼쳤다. 각 부문 우승자에게는 알래 스카 USPA 대회 사상 최초로 300달러 의 상금이 주어졌으며, 후원사들이 제공 한 서비스와 기프트 카드도 함께 수여 되었다.

파워리프팅의 매력

파워리프팅은 단순한 힘겨루기 스포츠 가 아니다. 규율, 인내, 정신적 강인함을 시험하는 종목이다. 파워리프팅은 스쿼 트, 벤치 프레스, 데드리프트 세 가지 종 목으로 구성되며, 선수들은 몇 달에 걸 친 훈련을 통해 자세를 다듬고, 힘을 기 르며, 개인 기록 갱신에 도전한다.

특히 파워리프팅은 독특한 커뮤니티 문 화를 가지고 있다. 선수들은 같은 메달 을 두고 경쟁하면서도 서로를 응원하며, 승패보다 성장과 노력 자체를 축하하는 분위기를 만든다. 많은 선수들에게 경기 플랫폼에 서는 것은 단순한 승리를 위 한 것이 아니라, 그동안의 노력과 헌신 이 결실을 맺었음을 스스로 증명하는 순 간이다.

이번 대회의 후원사 중에는 앵커리지 의 잘 알려진 한인 업소 서울 카사(Seoul Casa), 고기 코리안 BBQ(Gogi Korean BBQ), 케이펍 코리안 BBQ(Kpub Korean BBQ)가 포함됐다. 이들의 참여는 지역 스포츠, 문화 행사, 청소년 프로그램을 꾸준히 지원해 온 앵커리지 한인 비즈니 스 커뮤니티의 영향력과 공동체 정신을 잘 보여준다.

대회 관계자는 “지역 비즈니스들이 우 리 선수들에게 투자해주고 알래스카 파 워리프팅 역사에 중요한 이정표를 세울 수 있도록 도와준 것은 정말 놀라운 일 입니다. 특히 한인 커뮤니티의 지원 덕 분에 참가자들에게 더욱 특별한 경험을 제공할 수 있었습니다.”라고 전했다.

이번 대회는 놀라운 힘의 경연장을 넘 어, 지역 파트너십의 힘을 보여주는 무 대가 되었다. 후원사들의 재정적 지원과 부가 혜택은 더 많은 선수들의 참여를 독려하고, 알래스카에서 힘겨루기 스포 츠의 위상을 한층 높였다.

Eagle River, AK – September 20, 2025 – The local powerlifting community made history this weekend with the 2025 USPA Mac’s Power Fest, held at Odd Man Rush Brewery in Eagle River. For the first time, winners of the competition walked away with cash prizes, thanks to the support of local businesses — including several Korean-owned establishments that stepped up to champion strength sports in Alaska.

A Historic Competition for Local Lifters

The event brought together lifters from across the state to compete in four categories: women’s, men’s, drug-tested, and open divisions. Each division winner was awarded a $300 cash prize, a first for a USPA event in Alaska. Along with the cash prizes, winners also received services and gift cards donated by sponsoring businesses.

What Makes Powerlifting Special

Powerlifting is more than just a strength sport — it is a test of discipline, perseverance, and mental toughness. The sport focuses on three main lifts: the squat, bench press, and deadlift. Athletes spend months training to perfect their form, increase their strength, and push their personal records. One of the unique aspects of powerlifting is the community atmosphere. Competitors cheer for one another, even when vying for the same medals, creating an environment that celebrates progress and hard work over rivalry. For many lifters, stepping on the platform is not just about winning — it’s about proving to themselves that their dedication and commitment have paid off.

Among the event’s sponsors were three well-known Korean-owned businesses: Seoul Casa, Gogi Korean BBQ, and Kpub Korean BBQ.
