2025년 8월 8일과 9일, 벤 보에케 아이 스 아레나(Ben Boeke Ice Arena)에서 열 린 ‘톱 오브 더 월드(Top of The World) 피겨스케이팅 대회’에서 알래스카 한 인 선수들이 뛰어난 실력을 발휘하며 주 목을 받았다. 최근 피겨스케이팅은 한인 들 사이에서 인기가 급상승하고 있으며, 많은 한인 선수들이 빙판 위에서 두각을 나타내고 있다.

이번 대회에서 한인 선수들은 각 부문 에서 다음과 같은 우수한 성적을 거두 었다.

손 주니아(Junia Son) – 152 인터미디어

트 여성 프리스케이팅 1위

손 루카스(Lucas Son) – 주니버일 남자

프리스케이팅 1위

김 루비 샤인(Ruby Shyne Kim) – 110 인터미디어트 쇼케이스 이모셔널 1위, 144 엑셀 인터미디어트 플러스 여자 프 리스케이팅 1위. 특히 김 루비 샤인 선 수는 영화 태극기 휘날리며의 한국 노래 에 맞춘 감동적인 연기를 선보여 예술성 과 표현력에서 큰 호평을 받았다.

김 로지(Rosy Kim) – 114 베이직 1~6 쇼케이스 라이트 엔터테인먼트 1위

아멜리아 조우(Amelia Tzou) – 121 프 리리미너리 쇼케이스 리리컬 그룹 A 1 위, 149 프리리미너리 여자 프리스케이 팅 2위

장 하윤(Hayun Jang) – 150 프리-주니 버일 여자 프리스케이팅 2위

이번 성과는 한인 피겨스케이팅 커뮤니 티의 재능과 헌신을 잘 보여주는 사례 로, 선수들의 기량과 인원이 모두 성장 하고 있음을 입증했다. 학부모와 코치, 그리고 동료 선수들은 이번 성과를 함께 축하하며, 피겨스케이팅이 청소년들에 게 규율, 자신감, 그리고 우정을 쌓을 수 있는 의미 있는 스포츠로 자리 잡고 있 다고 평가했다.

피겨스케이팅에 대한 관심이 계속 높아 짐에 따라, 이번 대회에서 두각을 나타 낸 젊은 선수들은 앞으로 열릴 지역 및 전국 대회에서도 활약을 이어갈 것으로 기대된다.

The 2025 Top of the World Skating Competition, held on August 8th and 9th at the Ben Boeke Ice Arena, showcased the growing prominence of Korean figure skaters in Alaska’s competitive scene. Figure skating has surged in popularity among Koreans in recent years, and many local athletes are thriving on the ice.

Several Korean skaters delivered outstanding performances, earning top placements in their respective categories:

Junia Son — 1st Place, 152 Intermediate Women Freeskate

Lucas Son — 1st Place, Juvenile Boys Freeskate

Ruby Shyne Kim — 1st Place, 110 Intermediate Showcase Emotional; 1st Place, 144 Excel Intermediate Plus Girls Freeskate. Notably, Kim’s winning showcase performance featured a moving routine set to a Korean song from the acclaimed film Taegukki, earning praise for its artistry and emotional depth.

Rosy Kim — 1st Place, 114 Basic 1 thru 6 – Showcase Light Entertainment Amelia Tzou — 1st Place, 121 Preliminary Showcase Lyrical Group A; 2nd Place, 149 Preliminary Girls Freeskate Hayun Jang — 2nd Place, 150 Pre-Juvenile Girls Freeskate

The strong results highlight the talent and dedication of the Korean skating community, which continues to grow both in skill and in numbers. Parents, coaches, and fellow skaters celebrated the achievements, noting that the sport has become a meaningful way for youth to build discipline, confidence, and friendships.

As interest in figure skating continues to rise, these young athletes are not only making their mark locally but are also setting their sights on future regional and national competitions.
