미국 이민국(USCIS)은 새로운 2025 시 민권 시험(Civics Test)을 도입한다고 발 표했습니다 federalregister.gov.

발효일: 2025년 9월 18일

적용 대상: 2025년 10월 20일 이후에 시민권 신청서를 제출하는 모든 신청자 내용: 시험 구조와 일부 문항이 조정되 지만, 영어 능력 시험 부분은 큰 변화가 없습니다.

미국 시민권 신청자들을 위한 2025 시 민권 시험의 주요 변경 내용은 다음과 같습니다:

시험 당 질문 수가 기존의 최대 10문항 에서 최대 20문항으로 늘어납니다.

문제 은행(question bank)의 크기는 100 개에서 128개로 확대됩니다.

통과하려면 20문항 중 12문제 이상 정 답을 맞춰야 합니다.

만약 9문제 이상 오답이 나오면 시험이 즉시 종료되어 불합격 처리됩니다.

시험관은 응시자가 12개 정답을 확보하 거나 9개 오답을 하게 되면 더 이상의 질문을 하지 않고 시험을 마칩니다.

다만, 65세 이상이고 영주권자로서 최 소 20년 이상 거주한 경우에는 간소화 된 형태(10문항 버전)가 유지되고, 통과 기준도 예전처럼 6문제 정답으로 설정 됩니다.

영어 시험의 읽기, 쓰기, 말하기 부분 등 은 변경되지 않으며 기존과 동일하게 유 지됩니다.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced the introduction of a new 2025 Civics Test.

Details:
The test structure and some questions will be adjusted, but there will be no significant changes to the English proficiency section.

Key Changes to the 2025 Civics Test: The number of questions asked during the interview will increase from a maximum of 10 to a maximum of 20.

The question bank will expand from 100 to 128 questions.

Applicants must answer at least 12 out of 20 questions correctly to pass. If an applicant gives 9 incorrect answers, the test will end immediately, and the applicant will fail.

The officer will stop asking questions once the applicant either answers 12 correctly or reaches 9 incorrect answers.

Applicants who are 65 years or older and have been permanent residents for at least 20 years will still take the simplified version (10 questions) and must answer 6 correctly to pass, just like before.

English Test:

The reading, writing, and speaking portions of the English test remain unchanged.
