ANCHORAGE, Alaska – 라스무슨 재단 (Rasmuson Foundation) 이사회는 올 연 말 연휴 기간 동안 식량 불안에 직면한 알래스카 주민들을 긴급 지원하기 위해 총 100만 달러의 보조금을 주 전역의 6 개 단체에 지원하기로 승인했다. 알래스카 전역의 푸드뱅크, 식품 저장 소, 무료 급식소 등은 물가 상승과 식품 지원 감소로 인해 가정들이 필요한 도움 을 받지 못하면서 수요가 급증하고 있 다. 또한 장기화된 연방 정부 셧다운과 태풍 할롱(Halong)으로 인해 서부 여러 지역의 주민들이 대거 이주하게 되면서 이미 과부하 상태였던 시스템에 큰 부담 이 가중됐다.

라스무슨 재단의 이번 지원금은 긴급 식 량 보급을 보충해 영향을 받은 알래스카 주민들을 즉각적으로 돕고, 올겨울 굶주 림에 놓이는 주민 수를 줄이는 데 목적 이 있다.

이번 보조금은 100만 끼 이상의 식사를 구매·배분하는 데 사용되며, 식량을 신 속하게 전달할 수 있는 기존 네트워크를 갖춘 6개 파트너 단체에 분배된다. 100 만 달러는 다음과 같이 배분된다: 빈스 카페(Bean’s Café) – 5만 달러 베델 커뮤니티 서비스 재단(Bethel Community Services Foundation) – 25 만 달러

브레드 라인(Bread Line Inc.) – 5만 달러 알래스카 푸드뱅크(Food Bank of Alaska) -40만 달러

페어뱅크스 커뮤니티 푸드뱅크(Fairbanks Community Food Bank) – 20만 달러

주노(Juneau) 소재 사우스이스트 푸드 뱅크(Southeast Food Bank) – 5만 달러 이들 단체는 총 275개 파트너 기관과 협력해 주 대부분의 지역사회에 식량을 공급하고 있다.

라스무슨 재단 소개

라스무슨 재단은 알래스카 앵커리지에 기반을 둔 민간 가족 재단으로, 알래스 카 주민들이 서로를 돕는 것을 지원하 는 것을 사명으로 삼고 있다. 이 재단은 1955년 스웨덴 선교사였던 제니 라스 무슨(Jenny Rasmuson)과 그의 아들 엘 머(Elmer)가 남편이자 은행가이자 선교 사였던 E.A. 라스무슨을 기리기 위해 설 립했다.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Rasmuson Foundation board of directors approved grants totaling $1 million to six statewide organizations in a collaborative effort to provide immediate relief to Alaskans facing food insecurity over the holiday season.

Statewide, food banks, food pantries, and soup kitchens are experiencing increased demand, as rising prices and decreased food benefits leave households without the support they need. The lengthy federal shutdown, along with Typhoon Halong’s displacement of Alaskans from several western communities, taxed an already overwhelmed system.

Rasmuson Foundation’s funding will provide immediate support for affected Alaskans by replenishing emergency food supplies, ensuring that fewer Alaskans go hungry this winter.

The funding, which will provide for the purchase and distribution of over a million meals, will be distributed among six partners with existing networks equipped to quickly distribute food. The grant of $1 million will be divided between: Bean’s Café ($50,000); Bethel Community Services Foundation ($250,000); Bread Line Inc. ($50,000); Food Bank of Alaska ($400,000); Fairbanks Community Food Bank ($200,000); and Southeast Food Bank in Juneau ($50,000). Collectively, these organizations serve 275 partners that reach communities across most of the state.

“Especially as the holidays approach, we are thankful for these partners and their ability and willingness to quickly meet the moment,” said Gretchen Guess, president and CEO of Rasmuson Foundation. “This collaboration reflects the way Alaskans come together to help each other. Our most meaningful impact happens through the relationships we have with our partners.”

This grant builds on the Foundation’s previous support of all six organizations, which have collectively received nearly $6.8 million in Foundation funding since 1982.
