앵커리지 수잔 라프랑스 시장은 지난 목요일 시 행정부의 두 가지 새로운 임 원 임명을 발표했다. 샤나 갬블(Shanna Gamble)을 공원·레크리에이션국장으 로, 마이크 애보트(Mike Abbott)를 돈 영(Don Young) 알래스카 항만의 임시 국장 으로 각각 임명했다.
샤나 갬블, 공원·레크리에이션국장 임 명
갬블은 지난 4월부터 공원·레크리에이 션국의 직무 대행을 맡아왔으며, 이번에 정식 국장으로 임명됐다. 갬블의 임명안 은 차기 시의회 회의에서 인준 절차를 거칠 예정이다.
갬블은 2020년 앵커리지 시정부에 합류 한 이후 공원·레크리에이션국의 핵심 지도자로 활동해왔다. 이전 직책에서는 운영 및 자본 예산을 관리하며 행정, 레 크리에이션, 수영 부문을 총괄했다. 또 한 20년 이상의 경험을 바탕으로 수백 만 달러 규모의 예산을 운영하고 대규모
팀을 이끌어왔다.
그녀는 지역사회 활동에도 적극적이다.
알래스카 최대 리틀리그 단체인 ‘애 보트 오 래빗 리틀리그(Abbott O Rabbit Little League)’의 집행이사회 위원으로 활동하고 있으며, 주니어 소키스 베이스 볼(Junior Sockeyes Baseball)의 창립 집 행이사회 멤버이기도 하다.
마이크 애보트, 돈 영 항만 임시 국장 임 명
스티브 리버포(Steve Ribuffo) 전 항만국 장이 지난달 은퇴함에 따라, 마이크 애 보트가 새 상임 국장이 임명될 때까지 임시 국장직을 맡는다. 애보트는 이달 말부터 업무를 시작한다.
애보트는 풍부한 행정 경험을 보유 하고 있다. 그는 에단 버코위츠(Ethan Berkowitz)와 마크 베기치(Mark Begich) 전 시장 행정부에서 시 행정관리(Municipal Manager)로 근무했으며, 당시 항 만국장을 총괄 감독했다. 또한 앵커리지 교육구, 알래스카 정신건강 신탁관리청 최고경영자, 앵커리지 유나이티드웨이 (United Way of Anchorage) 임시 대표 등 다양한 리더십 역할을 수행한 바 있다.
라프랑스 시장의 발언
라프랑스 시장은 “샤나와 마이크는 두 중요한 자리에서 이미 그들의 전문성과 리더십을 입증했다”며 “기꺼이 봉사 해 주는 두 사람에게 감사하며, 함께 협 력해 우리 공동체를 앞으로 나아가게 하 기를 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
Anchorage Mayor Suzanne LaFrance on Thursday announced two new executive appointments to her administration, selecting Shanna Gamble as Director of Parks and Recreation and Mike Abbott as Interim Director of the Don Young Port of Alaska.
Shanna Gamble has been leading Parks and Recreation as acting director since April, and Mayor LaFrance appointed Gamble to permanently lead the department. Gamble’s appointment is scheduled for confirmation at the next Assembly meeting.
Gamble joined the Municipality in 2020 and has since been a key leader in the Parks and Recreation Department. In her previous position, she managed the department’s operational and capital budgets, as well as the Administration, Recreation, and Aquatic Divisions. Gamble has more than 20 years of experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and leading large teams.
She is also deeply involved in the community, serving as an executive board member for Abbott O Rabbit Little League, Alaska’s largest Little League organization, and is a founding executive board member of Junior Sockeyes Baseball.
Mike Abbott will serve as the Interim Director of the Don Young Port of Alaska until a permanent director is found. Longtime Port Director Steve Ribuffo retired last month. Abbott will start later this month.
His extensive leadership experience includes previously working as Municipal Manager in the administrations of two former mayors, Mayor Ethan Berkowitz and Mayor Mark Begich. In that role, Abbott supervised the Port Director. Abbott also held leadership roles in the Anchorage School District, served as chief executive of the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority, and previously led United Way of Anchorage in an interim capacity.
“Both Shanna and Mike have proven their expertise and ability to lead in these critical roles. I am grateful for their willingness to serve and am excited to work alongside them to continue moving our community forward,” said Mayor LaFrance.
