제43회 재미한국학교 협의회가 주최한 학술대회가 2025년 7월 17일부터 19일 까지 달라스에서 있었다. 이번 학술대회 는 <한류 융성시대와 한국학교의 재 도 약>이라는 주제 아래 두 번의 기조강연 과 다양한 수업들로 구성되어, 미국 여 러 주에서 수고하는 한국학교 교사들이 참여하였다. 이번 학술대회에 앵커리지 한글학교 교사 6명이 참가하여 소중한 배움의 시간을 가졌다.

특별히 이번 학술대회에서는 전체적인 흐름이 역사의식을 살아나게 하는 강연 들이 많았다. 음악이 된 역사, 역사가 된 이야기로 <하와이 연가>는 상영 중 교사 들의 심금을 울려 많은 애국심을 불러 일으키기도 하였다. 이진영 감독이 직접 소개해 준 영화로, 잊지 못할 강연이었 다. 앵커리지한글학교는 기회를 마련하 여 <하와이 연가>를 학생들과 함께 시청 할 계획을 준비 중이다.

또한 이 학술대회에 참여한 교사들은 날 로 발달하는 AI 시대에 발맞추어 가기 위해 새로운 수업들을 들으며, 새 학년 에 어떻게 수업을 진행할지 준비하고 계 획하는 시간을 가졌다.

특히 이번 학술대회에서 이미양 선생님 께서 10년 근속상을 받았다. 10년 동안 제일 어린 반을 맡아서 수고하신 선생님 은 항상 엄마의 마음으로 아이들을 사랑

해 주셨다.

The 43rd Annual Conference hosted by the National Association for Korean Schools (NAKS) took place in Dallas from July 17 to 19, 2025. Held under the theme “The Resurgence of Korean Schools in the Era of the Korean Wave,” the three-day academic event featured two keynote lectures and a variety of workshops. Korean school teachers from across the United States participated, including six educators from the Anchorage Korean Language School, who found the experience deeply enriching.

This year’s conference placed a strong emphasis on fostering historical awareness. One standout presentation was the screening of “Hawaiian Serenade,” which, through its compelling blend of history and storytelling, moved many educators to tears and stirred feelings of patriotism. The film was personally introduced by director Jin-Young Lee and left a lasting impression on attendees. Anchorage Korean Language School plans to organize a special screening of the film for students in the near future.

In addition to historical insights, participating teachers attended innovative sessions designed to help them adapt to the rapidly advancing era of artificial intelligence. These sessions provided fresh ideas and guidance for curriculum planning in the upcoming school year.

A highlight of the conference was the recognition of Anchorage teacher Ms. Lee Mi-Yang, who received a 10-Year Service Award. Having dedicated a decade to teaching the youngest students at the school, she is widely admired for her nurturing approach and motherly love for the children.
