5월 5일은 어린이 날이다. 앵커리지 한글학교는 5월 4일 수업 중 에 일년동안 이런저런 방법으로 받은 한 국 가짜 돈으로 진짜 물건을 사는 시장 놀이를 하였다.

출석, 숙제하기, 시험 등등 여러 경우들 에 따라 교사들은 학생들에게 돈을 주 었고 그 돈을 모와 실제로 사용하는 날 이었다. 간식을 사먹고 시장을 둘러 본 후에 원하는 가게에 가서 정해진 한시 간 동안 시장에서 지내는 좋은 경험들 을 했다.

이번 행사는 앵커리지 한인회의 보조금 과 학교 예산 그리고 교사들의 물품 기 부등이 모여 풍부한 시장이 꾸며졌다. 이 놀이를 통해 한국 돈을 접하는 기회 를 갖고 물건을 살때의 예의범절 그리 고 예산 안에서 지출하는 것 돈 계산 하 는 법 등을 몸소 실천 할 수 있는 기회 가 되었다.

집으로 돌아갈 때 학생들의 손에는 샤 핑봉투가, 얼굴엔 행복한 미소가 가득 했다.

앵커리지 한글학교 2024~2025학년 도는 두번의 수업을 남기고 5월 17일에 여름 방학을 한다.

At Anchorage Korean Language School, a special “market day” was held during class on May 4th, allowing students to use fake Korean money—earned throughout the year in various ways—to buy real goods.

Throughout the school year, students received this play money for attendance, completing homework, taking tests, and other achievements. Market Day was the culmination of those efforts, giving students the chance to spend what they had earned. They bought snacks, explored the market, and spent an hour choosing and purchasing items from different booths—a fun and educational experience.

The event was made possible by support from the Korean American Community of Anchorage, the school’s budget, and generous donations of items from the teachers. The market was filled with exciting options and provided a great opportunity for students to interact with Korean currency, practice manners when shopping, learn to manage a budget, and calculate change.

As they left for home, students carried shopping bags in their hands and joyful smiles on their faces.

The 2024–2025 school year at Anchorage Korean Language School has just two classes remaining before summer break begins on May 17.
