시즌 첫눈이 내리며 본격적인 겨울이 시 작됐습니다! 앵커리지 전역에서는 시 도 로관리국(Street Maintenance) 작업팀이 주요 간선도로와 연결도로에서 제설 작 업을 진행하고 있으며, 일부 팀은 이미 주거지역 제설을 시작했습니다. 간선도 로와 연결도로 제설이 완료되는 대로 모 든 팀이 주거지역 제설로 전환될 예정 입니다.

주민들은 Muni.org/plow 웹사이트에서 최신 제설 현황과 관련 정보를 편리하게 확인할 수 있습니다.

10월부터 3월까지, 도로관리팀은 24시 간 교대로 근무하며 교통 시스템을 확 보하고 지역사회가 원활히 움직일 수 있 도록 제설 작업을 이어갑니다. 작업팀의 위치와 작업 시점을 확인하면 안전한 운 전과 이동 계획에 큰 도움이 됩니다.

Muni.org/plow가 제공하는 네 가지 주 요 기능

1. 실시간 제설차 GPS 지도

현재 제설차가 어디서 작업 중인지 거의 실시간으로 확인할 수 있습니다.

2. ‘우리 동네 제설 시기’ 지도

거주지역 제설 일정과 예상 시기를 확인 할 수 있습니다. 제설 진행 상태와 계획 을 기반으로 주거지역 제설 완료 예상 시간을 제공하는 도구입니다.

3. 자치구 관리 도로 지도

해당 도로가 앵커리지 시가 관리하는 도 로인지, 알래스카 주정부나 다른 기관 이 관리하는 도로인지 쉽게 확인할 수 있어 제설 책임 기관을 명확히 알 수 있 습니다.

4. 교통 카메라 영상

주요 교차로의 최근 교통 상황을 영상으 로 확인하며, 눈이 온 뒤 혼잡 지역을 피 하고 통행 계획을 세우는 데 도움이 됩 니다.

또한 페이지 상단의 상태 박스에서 최신 공지 사항과 ‘플라우아웃(plow-out)’ 선언 여부도 확인할 수 있습니다.

기본 제설 절차

눈이 4인치 이상 내리면 간선도로부터 우선 제설을 시작합니다. 주요 도로 제 설이 끝나면 시는 “플라우아웃(plow-out)”을 선언하고 주거지역 제설을 시 작합니다. 주거지역은 A/B 구역으로 나 누어 번갈아 가며 제설합니다.

도로관리팀은 주 7일, 하루 24시간 운 영되며 가능한 한 빠르게 제설을 진행 합니다.

주거지역 제설 소요 시간은 적설량에 따

라 달라지며 일반적으로:

4~6인치 적설량: 약 84시간

6~10인치: 약 96시간

10~15인치: 약 108시간

15인치 이상: 120시간 이상

무거운 습설, 연속 강설, 장비 고장 등 상황에 따라 제설 시간이 더 길어질 수 있습니다.

한편, 고속도로·Tudor·Benson·C Street·Fireweed Lane 등 주요 도로는 알래스카 주정부가 관리합니다.

제설 과정에서 눈더미(berm)가 생기는 것은 불가피하며, 차량 진입로나 우편함 을 막는 눈더미 제거는 건물 소유주의 책임입니다. 나이 또는 신체적 이유로 제거가 어려운 경우 제거 서비스를 요청 할 수 있습니다. 제설차가 ‘스노 게이 트(snow gate)’를 사용해 영향력을 줄 이기도 하지만 눈더미 발생은 완전히 방 지할 수 없습니다.

겨울철 안전 운전 및 안내

제설은 지역사회가 함께 지켜야 할 공 공 안전 작업입니다. 공공 도로에 눈을 치워 넣거나 밀어 넣는 행위는 불법입 니다.

운전 시 제설차에 충분한 거리를 두고, Muni.org/plow의 정보를 활용해 안전한 이동을 계획해 주시기 바랍니다.

The first snow of the season has fallen, and more winter weather is on the way! Street Maintenance crews are out plowing main roads and collector streets around Anchorage. Some crews have begun working in residential areas. Once arterials and collectors are cleared, all crews will shift to residential plowing.

As a reminder, the public can access the latest snowplowing updates and resources online at Muni. org/plow.

From October through March, our Street Maintenance crews work around the clock to keep our transportation system clear and our community moving. Knowing when and where crews are working can help you stay safe on the roads and assist in your travel planning.

The Municipality’s site has four key tools to help residents navigate the snow season:

Live Plow GPS Tracking Map: See where the plows are! This map shows the location of our snow removal fleet in near-real time when crews are working.

When Will My Street Be Plowed Map: Get a better idea of the plowing schedule for your neighborhood. This tool helps residents estimate the timeline for snow removal on residential streets based on plow-out status and the plow plan schedule.

Municipality-Maintained Roads Map: Unsure if your street is maintained by the Municipality, the State of Alaska, or another entity? This map clarifies which roads are under Muni jurisdiction, helping you understand who is responsible for plowing your area. Traffic Camera Footage: View recent traffic conditions at major intersections throughout the Municipality, to help plan your commute and avoid congestion during and after snow events.

Residents can use online forms to:

Report dangerous conditions on roads or sidewalks.

Report a bus stop that needs snow removal.

Request berm removal. This service is available for the elderly and people with disabilities.

Don’t have web access? Residents can call Street Maintenance at 907-343-PLOW to report dangerous conditions or call 3-1-1 to report a vehicle in the road.

Snow Clearing Basics:

Our established process for clearing snow remains: After a snowfall of four inches or more, crews plow the main roads first. Once the main routes are clear, the Municipality declares a “plow-out” and begins clearing neighborhood streets. We plow neighborhood streets zone by zone, on an alternating plan A or B schedule.

Street Maintenance crews work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to clear snow as fast as possible.

The length of time it takes to plow all neighborhood streets is based on the amount of snow. In general, it takes:

84 hours for a snowfall of 4 to 6 inches

96 hours for a snowfall of 6 to 10 inches

108 hours for a snowfall of 10 to 15 inches

120 hours or more for more than 15 inches of snow.

Remember, major roads like the highways, Tudor, Benson, C Street, and Fireweed Lane are maintained and plowed by the State of Alaska.

Plowing streets inevitably creates snow berms, and property owners are responsible for removing any berms that impede their driveway or mailbox.

Those unable to remove the snow due to age or a physical disability may request a berm removal. While our plows sometimes use “snow gates” to help reduce the impact, berms can still form.

Stay Informed and Drive Safely:

Snow removal is a shared responsibility, and we ask residents to remember that it is illegal to shovel, push, or move snow into the public right-of-way.
