미국 평균보다 느린 인구 증가

알래스카의 인구 증가율은 과거 수십 년에 비해 크게 둔화됐다. 1970년대, 1980년대, 그리고 2000년대 초반까지 는 꾸준한 인구 증가가 이어졌지만, 최 근 몇 년 동안 증가세는 거의 정체된 상 태다.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Alaska’s population has experienced modest growth in recent years, but state officials say long-term demographic trends continue to present challenges for the state’s economy and workforce. According to estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, Alaska’s population was approximately 733,000 in 2025. The state remains one of the least populated in the United States despite being the nation’s largest by land area.

Slower Growth Than the U.S. Average

Population growth in Alaska has slowed significantly compared with earlier decades. While the state experienced steady population increases through the 1970s, 1980s, and early 2000s, growth has leveled off in recent years.

Several factors contribute to this slower growth:

·Out-migration of residents moving to other states

·Fewer births compared to past decades

·Economic fluctuations, particularly tied to the oil industry

Workforce and Economic Concerns

Officials say attracting new residents, retaining young people, and expanding economic opportunities will be key to maintaining a stable population.

Immigration and Cultural Diversity

Another factor shaping Alaska’s population is immigration. The state has become increasingly diverse, with growing communities from Asia, the Pacific Islands, and Latin America. Anchorage, in particular, is considered one of the most diverse cities in the United States, with residents representing more than 100 languages and cultures.
