알래스카 한인 기독교 교회 연합회(회장 함성주 목사)는 지난 4월 5일(주일) 오전 6시, 앵커리지 제일한인침례교회에서 부활절 연합 새벽예배를 드렸다. 이날 예배는 지역 내 한인 교회들이 함께 모 여 부활의 기쁨과 의미를 나누는 자리로 마련되었으며, 다양한 교단과 성도들이 한자리에 모여 은혜로운 시간을 가졌다.

예배는 함성주 목사의 인도로 시작되어 찬송과 기도, 성경봉독, 연합찬양대의 찬양으로 이어졌으며, 고린도전서 15장 12~19절 말씀을 중심으로 이홍래 목사 가 설교를 전했다.

이 목사는 설교에서 “부활절 예배가 단순한 형식적인 기념에 그치는 것이 아 니라, 우리가 실제로 부활의 신앙으로 살아가고 있는지를 점검하는 시간이 되 어야 한다”고 강조했다. 이어 “예수 그리스도의 부활에 대한 감사와 구원의 감격이 사라질 때 교회 안에 문제가 생 긴다”며, 신앙의 본질을 되돌아볼 것을 권면했다.

특히 “사탄의 가장 강력한 무기는 죽 음이지만, 예수 그리스도의 부활은 그 죽음을 이기신 사건”이라며 “성도들 이 신앙적으로 죽음을 극복할 때 비로소 사탄을 이기는 삶을 살 수 있다”고 전 했다. 또한 “불평하는 신앙은 곧 불신 앙이며, 이는 생사화복이 하나님께 달려 있음을 믿지 않는 태도”라고 지적하며, 믿음의 회복을 촉구했다.

이 목사는 구약의 에스더를 예로 들며 “에스더가 ‘죽으면 죽으리라’는 결 단을 할 수 있었던 것은 부활에 대한 믿 음이 있었기 때문”이라 설명하고, 오늘 살아가는 성도들 역시 그러한 믿음의 결단이 필요함을 강조했다.

이날 예배에는 구세군 앵커리지 한인교 회, 알래스카 한인장로교회, 앵커리지 열린문교회, 앵커리지 순복음교회, 알 래스카 동양선교교회, 앵커리지 연합감 리교회, 앵커리지 온누리교회, 앵커리 지 제일한인침례교회, 한인세중앙침례 교회, 이글리버 한인침례교회 등 연합회 소속 교회들이 함께 참여했다.

연합회는 예배를 마치며 “부활의 은혜 와 소망이 모든 성도들의 삶 가운데 함 께하기를 바란다”고 전했으며, 예배 후 에는 각 교회가 준비한 간식을 나누며 교제의 시간을 가졌다.

이번 부활절 연합 새벽예배는 단순한 행 사 이상의 의미를 지니며, 지역 교회들 이 하나 되어 부활 신앙의 본질을 되새 기고 공동체적 연합을 다지는 뜻깊은 자 리로 마무리되었다.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Alaska Korean Christian Churches Association (President Rev. Ham Sung-joo) held a joint Easter dawn service on Sunday, April 5, at 6:00 a.m. at First Korean Baptist Church of Anchorage. The service brought together Korean churches across the region to share the joy and meaning of the Resurrection. Congregants from various denominations gathered in unity, creating a spiritually enriching and meaningful time of worship.

The service began under the leadership of Rev. Ham Sung-joo and included hymns, prayer, Scripture reading, and a special performance by a combined choir. Rev. Lee Hong-rae delivered the sermon based on 1 Corinthians 15:12–19.

In his message, Rev. Lee emphasized that Easter should not remain a mere formal observance, but rather serve as a time for believers to reflect on whether they are truly living with the faith of the Resurrection. He warned that when gratitude for the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the joy of salvation fade, problems begin to arise within the church, urging believers to return to the essence of their faith.

He further explained, “The most powerful weapon of Satan is death, but the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the event that overcame death.” He added that when believers overcome spiritual death, they are able to live victorious lives over evil. He also noted that a complaining faith reflects a lack of true belief, as it fails to trust that life, death, blessings, and misfortune are ultimately in God’s hands, calling for a restoration of genuine faith.

Referencing Esther from the Old Testament, Rev. Lee stated that her resolve—“If I perish, I perish”—was rooted in faith in the resurrection, and encouraged modern believers to live with the same conviction.

Participating churches included The Salvation Army Anchorage Korean Church, Alaska Korean Presbyterian Church, Anchorage Open Door Church, Anchorage Full Gospel Church, Alaska Oriental Mission Church, Anchorage United Methodist Church, Anchorage Onnuri Church, First Korean Baptist Church of Anchorage, Korean Central Baptist Church, and Eagle River Korean Baptist Church.

Following the service, the association shared its hope that the grace and promise of the Resurrection would be present in the lives of all believers. Attendees also enjoyed a time of fellowship, sharing refreshments prepared by participating churches.

The Easter joint dawn service served as more than a ceremonial gathering, standing as a meaningful occasion for local churches to unite, reflect on the core of their faith, and strengthen their sense of community.
