ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Alaska Korean Soccer Association (AKSA) hosted a community watch party on Thursday, June 11, at the Korean American Community of Anchorage (KACA) Center to support the South Korean National Team in its opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage.

Local Korean residents and soccer fans gathered for the event, wearing red shirts and waving South Korean flags as they passionately cheered for their national team. The watch party marked the first of several World Cup viewing events organized by AKSA throughout the tournament.

The occasion became even more memorable as South Korea defeated Czechia 2-1. When the final whistle blew, cheers and applause erupted throughout the KACA Center. Attendees exchanged high-fives and celebrated the victory together. Watching the Korean national team earn an important World Cup win brought a sense of pride and excitement to the Korean community. Many participants said the atmosphere made them feel as if they were watching live from the stadium, despite being thousands of miles away from Korea.

To add to the excitement, AKSA organized a special prediction contest. Before kickoff, all attendees received raffle tickets and were asked to predict the final score of the match. Participants submitted their predictions by placing their tickets into designated score boxes. After the game, two winners who correctly predicted the result were selected through a drawing and awarded official South Korea National Team jerseys.

The next World Cup watch parties are scheduled for June 18 at 5:00 p.m. for South Korea’s match against Mexico and June 24 at 5:00 p.m. for the match against South Africa. Both events will be held at the KACA Center in Anchorage.

Additional prize drawings and fan activities are planned for the remaining matches, and snacks and beverages will be provided for attendees.

“We hope more members of the community will join us to support the Korean National Team and enjoy this celebration together,” AKSA said. “We want these events to be a place where the Korean community can come together, build friendships, and share the excitement of the World Cup.”

알래스카 앵커리지 — 알래스카 한인축구협회(Alaska Korean Soccer Association, AKSA)는 6월 11일(목) 앵커리지 한인회관(Korean American Community of Anchorage, KACA Center)에서 2026 FIFA 월드컵 조별리그 첫 경기에 출전한 대한민국 축구 국가대표팀을 응원하기 위한 단체 응원전을 개최했다.

이날 행사에는 지역 한인 주민들과 축구 팬들이 참석해 붉은색 티셔츠를 입고 태극기를 흔들며 대한민국 대표팀을 열정적으로 응원했다. 이번 응원전은 AKSA가 월드컵 기간 동안 진행하는 여러 차례의 단체 관람 행사 중 첫 번째 행사였다.

행사는 대한민국이 체코를 2대 1로 꺾으며 더욱 뜻깊은 시간이 되었다. 경기 종료 휘슬이 울리자 한인회관 곳곳에서 환호와 박수가 터져 나왔고, 참석자들은 서로 하이파이브를 나누며 승리의 기쁨을 함께했다. 월드컵에서 대한민국 대표팀이 중요한 첫 승을 거두는 모습을 지켜보며 한인사회는 큰 자부심과 흥분을 느꼈다. 많은 참석자들은 한국에서 수천 마일 떨어진 알래스카에 있었지만 마치 경기장에서 직접 응원하는 듯한 생생한 분위기를 경험했다고 전했다.

행사의 즐거움을 더하기 위해 AKSA는 특별한 경기 결과 맞히기 이벤트도 진행했다. 경기 시작 전 모든 참석자에게 추첨권이 배부되었으며, 참가자들은 경기 최종 스코어를 예측해 해당 점수함에 추첨권을 넣었다. 경기 종료 후에는 정답을 맞힌 참가자들 가운데 추첨을 통해 두 명의 당첨자를 선정했으며, 이들에게 대한민국 축구 국가대표 공식 유니폼이 상품으로 수여되었다.

다음 월드컵 응원전은 6월 18일 오후 5시 대한민국 대 멕시코전, 그리고 6월 24일 오후 5시 대한민국 대 남아프리카공화국전 일정에 맞춰 진행될 예정이다. 두 행사 모두 앵커리지 한인회관(KACA Center)에서 개최된다.

남은 경기에서도 다양한 경품 추첨과 팬 참여 이벤트가 준비되어 있으며, 참석자들에게는 간식과 음료가 제공될 예정이다.

AKSA 관계자는 “더 많은 지역 주민들이 함께 모여 대한민국 축구 국가대표팀을 응원하고 월드컵의 즐거움을 함께 나누길 바란다”며 “이번 행사가 한인사회가 한자리에 모여 우정을 쌓고 월드컵의 감동을 함께 공유하는 소중한 시간이 되기를 기대한다”고 말했다.
