ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The 2026 Alaska Airlines Cup, hosted by Alaska Rush Soccer Club, kicked off June 4 at Kincaid Park, bringing together more than 126 teams and over 2,000 soccer players and their families from across Alaska for one of the state’s premier youth soccer events.

The Alaska Airlines Cup is one of the longest-running soccer tournaments in Alaska and has become a major community event that showcases young athletic talent while fostering sportsmanship and competition. In addition to tournament play, the event also
features a College ID Camp, providing aspiring student-athletes with opportunities to gain exposure to college coaches and recruiters.

Alaska Rush Soccer Club serves as the local branch of Rush Soccer, an international soccer organization with more than 40,000 players worldwide. The organization is known for promoting excellence both on and off the field while developing young athletes
through competition, teamwork, and character-building experiences. Among the local athletes participating in this year’s tournament was Jacob Lee #13 , a Korean-American student athlete who will be entering the eighth grade at Romig Middle School this fall. Lee represented Alaska Rush U15 Boys Gold as a center back during tournament competition.

Alaska Rush U15 Boys Gold delivered an impressive performance in the finals, defeating Chugiak Soccer Club U15B Firestorm by a decisive score of 5-0. The team’s disciplined defensive play, including contributions from Lee in the back line, helped secure the shutout victory while showcasing the strength of Alaska Rush’s youth development program.

As one of the largest youth sporting events in Alaska, the Alaska Airlines Cup continues to attract teams from communities throughout the state, creating opportunities for young athletes to compete at a high level while strengthening the soccer community across Alaska.

Tournament matches continued throughout the weekend at Kincaid Park, where players, coaches, and families gathered to celebrate the sport and support Alaska’s next generation of soccer talent.

황을 이뤘다.

알래스카 에어라인스 컵은 알래스카에서 가장 오랜 역사를 자랑하는 축구 대회 가운데 하나로, 매년 우수한 청소년
선수들이 실력을 겨루는 무대로 자리매김하고 있다. 또한 대학 스카우트들에게 자신을 알릴 수 있는 칼리지 ID 캠프
(College ID Camp)도 함께 열려 참가 선수들에게 특별한 기회를 제공하고 있다. 알래스카 러시는 전 세계 4만여 명의 선
수가 활동하는 국제 축구 네트워크인 러시 사커(Rush Soccer)의 지역 클럽이다. 선수 육성과 스포츠맨십, 팀워크, 인성
교육을 중시하는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 알래스카 청소년 축구 발전에 중요한 역할을 하고 있다.

이번 대회에는 올가을 로미그 중학교(Romig Middle School) 8학년에 진학 하는 한인 학생 이현민(Jacob Lee) 선
수도 참가해 눈길을 끌었다. 이현민 선수는 알래스카 러시 U15 보이스 골드(Alaska Rush U15 Boys Gold) 팀의 센터
백(Center Back)으로 출전해 팀 수비의중심 역할을 맡았다.

알래스카 러시 U15 보이스 골드 팀은 결승전에서 인상적인 경기력을 선보이며, 추기악 사커 클럽 U15B 파이어스톰
을 5대 0으로 완파하는 압도적인 승리를 거두었다. 팀은 탄탄한 수비와 조직력을 바탕으로 상대 공격을 효과적으로
차단하며 무실점 승리를 기록했다. 특히 수비진의 핵심으로 활약한 이현민 선수는 안정적인 수비와 경기 운영 능력
을 선보이며 팀의 완승에 기여했다. 알래스카 에어라인스 컵은 매년 알래스카 각 지역의 유소년 선수들이 한자리에
모여 경쟁하고 교류하는 대표적인 스포츠 행사로 자리 잡고 있다. 선수들과 가족들은 주말 동안 킨케이드 파크에서 펼
쳐진 다양한 경기를 관람하며 축구를 통한 지역사회의 화합과 스포츠 정신을 함
께 나눴다.

이번 대회는 알래스카 청소년 선수들의 성장 가능성과 미래를 확인할 수 있는뜻깊은 무대가 되었으며, 이현민 선수와
같은 한인 청소년 선수들의 활약도 지역 사회에 자긍심을 안겨주고 있다.
