Required Immigration Documents:

What to Carry If you are 18 or older and not a U.S. citizen, you must always carry proof of your legal status in the United States.

This is required by federal law.

Note: A Real ID or state-issued driver’s license is not enough to prove your immigration status.

Below is a list of commonly required documents. Carry the ones that apply to your status:

Common Immigration Documents:

Green Card (Permanent Resident Card – Form I-551)

·Employment Authorization Document (EAD – Form I-766)

·Form I-94 (Arrival/Departure Record) o Get your most recent I-94 online at www.i94.cbp.dhs.gov/home·Form I-797 (Approval Notice, if your case is still processing)

·Passport with a valid U.S. visa

·Refugee Travel Document (if traveling) Important Reminder: Not carrying these documents with you can result in a fine (up to $100) or jail time (up to 30 days), or both.
